Training & Professional Development Center

The Training & Development Center at Midad Al-Madina was established to prepare new teachers in the field of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers—children and adults alike.
Through both online courses and on-site workshops, the center supports educators by providing essential teaching competencies, modern instructional strategies, and continuous professional development. All participating teachers undergo a careful and comprehensive selection process supervised by a committee of experts.

Midad has organized more than 42 diverse training workshops, including general development courses focused on enhancing teaching methodologies, as well as targeted sessions designed to address specific pedagogical challenges.

Themes: Understanding students’ motivations, strategies to enhance teacher performance, self-learning skills, and psychological readiness.

Presenter: Dr. Khaled Abu Amsha – BA, MA, PhD in Arabic teaching and Linguistics.

Themes: Alphabet teaching, gradual letter acquisition, correct writing foundation, reading patterns, and enabling sentence production.

Using Technology in Arabic Classes

Presenter: Ms. Resam Srewel – Arabic Language Teacher with extensive experience and participation in authoring Arabic curricula for non-native speakers.

Themes: Administrative uses of technology, shared digital libraries, interactive lessons with Quizlet & Kahoot, social media for skill development, engaging PowerPoint presentations.

By the grace of Allah, the academic year 2024–2025 witnessed a successful collaboration between Midad Al-Madina Foundation and Al-Hidaya School in New York. This partnership focused on supervising the Arabic Language Program and developing immersive educational content for young learners.

1. Training and Professional Supervision

Both teams implemented a comprehensive professional development program for teachers at Al-Hidaya School, including:

  • Idea Exchange Workshop to align goals and establish a unified educational policy.
  • Specialized pre-year training on teaching Arabic as a foreign language to early childhood learners.
  • Model and trial lessons delivered by teachers for evaluation, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Weekly classroom observations with consultation and development meetings.

2. Curriculum and Story Production

A major accomplishment this year was the development of a full curriculum tailored to Al-Hidaya School’s framework, including:

  • 32 thematic units across two levels: Level 1 (4-year-olds), Level 2 (5–6-year-olds).
  • 66 age-appropriate stories to support immersive language learning:
    • 24 stories for Pre-KG
    • 30 stories for KG1
    • 12 stories for Grade 1

The content was designed to meet developmental needs while promoting meaningful language acquisition grounded in Islamic values.

Conclusion

This partnership was a model of dedication and mutual commitment. Despite challenges, both teams focused on delivering a high-quality Arabic program grounded in Islamic values. May Allah bless these efforts and nurture future generations with strong linguistic and Islamic foundations.

Arabic Language Workshop for Children Aged 8 to 12

Midad Al-Madina Foundation organized an online training workshop for the teachers of Ihya School in September 2024. The workshop was delivered by Ms. Sawsan Bara, Mr. Ibrahim Serri, and the supervisor Mr. Izzeddin Al Khateeb through a series of interactive sessions. The sessions aimed to enhance the skills of Arabic language teachers for non-native learners, including strategies for teaching vocabulary and reading, language levels, modern curricula, and qualities of an effective teacher.
